Vintage-Inspired Womenswear Label Invites Shoppers on a Journey Through Fashion’s Past with Limited-Edition Vintage Edit
New York, NY, August 2021 – New York City-based womenswear label, Simple Retro, is pleased to announce an extension of its online offering with the debut of the Vintage Map – a curated edit of vintage pieces from decades past, which inspire Simple Retro collections today. The latest extension of the Simple Retro offering will showcase exclusive vintage styles available to shop, all curated in collaboration with leading vintage retailers and collectors worldwide. Alongside the shop-able vintage edit, Simple Retro’s Vintage Map will also serve as a guide for vintage lovers to the best vintage boutiques and dealers around the world.
The Vintage Map by Simple Retro is driven by the brand’s commitment to honoring time-tested traditions in fashion. As a brand that celebrates vintage design and reinterprets it for today’s customer, Simple Retro hopes to serve as a destination for all vintage lovers, while also bringing awareness to the inspiring businesses who help to keep fashion traditions alive and accessible to the public. New one-of-a-kind pieces will be added to the Vintage Map periodically alongside an in-depth feature on the collectors who sourced them, shedding more light on the industry pioneers who have made it their life’s work to preserve and carry on the very best of fashion history.
To be a vintage collector is to be a cultural caretaker for future generations. The collector collaborators spotlighted through the Vintage Map are more than just shopkeepers; they hold the key to fashion’s past and future, providing an archive of often priceless originals to be referenced again and again. The first vintage collector and dealer to be spotlighted on the Simple Retro site will be Denyse Sookdar, a Connecticut-based vintage enthusiast who has been collecting rare pieces dating as far back as the 1800’s and spanning through to the early 2000’s. With one of the most impressive collections of coveted vintage garments in the tri-state area, Denyse was selected as the first collaborator to showcase on the Vintage Map, because her pieces can only be purchased at limited-time events and she does not have a permanent retail location. The Simple Retro team wanted to make a selection of her meticulously curated pieces available to a wider audience through this new digital platform, amplifying her voice and allowing Denyse to share her passion for vintage with enthusiasts around the world.
“For collectors and vintage enthusiasts, sourcing pieces from decades past means so much more than just finding clothing,” says the creative director of Simple Retro, “These pieces are time capsules from a period of time that cannot be duplicated. With the launch of the Vintage Map, we hope to celebrate the original unduplicated vintage pieces, sharing their story and making them available to all enthusiasts worldwide, with just the click of a button.”
Starting in North America, then making their way around the world, Simple Retro will be showcasing garments that have made an impact on style through the ages, sharing the story behind each piece as well as the collectors who have helped to preserve these rare finds for the modern shopper. Simple Retro will offer these items for sale in their New York showroom as well as on SimpleRetro.com, and all sales will directly benefit the collector from whom the piece was sourced.
Prices for the initial edit of Vintage Map pieces will range from $20-$400, with new styles added to the website on a regular basis.
